DOZENS of the UK’s leading motoring journalists have had their first taste of the all-new Nissan Pulsar at the model’s international press launch in Spain.
The group, which comprised senior figures from the national press, automotive and trade media, were first flown to Barcelona on an exclusive charter flight before collecting the keys to a waiting model and beginning their ‘Pulsar Live’ experience.
They then drove an hour north out of the city, following an exciting and scenic route designed to show the model’s driving dynamics to full effect, before arriving at the stunning Villa Martossa in Tossa de Mar for lunch.
Perched atop a cliff and overlooking a private beach, the Bond villain style villa has been taken over by Nissan Europe for the duration of Pulsar Live and provided a breathtaking backdrop for a roundtable Q&A with senior Nissan execs including Paul Willcox, Chairman of Nissan Europe, and interviews with technical experts.
After lunch, the journalists again climbed behind the wheel of a Pulsar, for another exhilarating drive through a heavily forested national park to Girona.
The route gave the journalists another opportunity to experience the performance and handling of the Pulsar on everything from high speed motorways to winding mountain passes.
Following the drive they checked in to an outstanding spa hotel for the evening.
There they were given a short presentation on the Pulsar by the members of the marketing and product teams.
The presentation took place in a room featuring giant oversize furniture, playfully alluding to the roomy performance of the Pulsar before those attending were given the opportunity to leave the room through the back of a Pulsar so they could experience the spaciousness again.
After this, the guests enjoyed a barbecue in fun Nissan and Pulsar branded surroundings such as the ‘Legroom’, which had been decorated with scores of mannequin legs, and an oversized Nissan table complete with larger than life salt and pepper pots.
The following morning the journalists were again behind the wheel of a Pulsar for the drive back to Barcelona airport and the return flight to the UK.
