NISSAN Birmingham Central is the new driving force behind cross-country mountain biker Beth Crumpton as she gears up for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The dealership on High Street, Digbeth, has supplied the 20 year-old from Redditch with a stylish Nissan Note as she intensifies her efforts to reach her first Olympics.
The sponsorship comes as a major boost to Beth – a member of British Cycling’s Olympic Academy Programme – as her previous car was prone to breaking down.
Built at Nissan’s hugely successful Sunderland plant, the supremely practical yet compact and economical Note will allow Beth to travel between her Midlands home and training base in Manchester and to competitions and training sessions across the UK.
It is also spacious enough to accommodate Beth’s sizeable kit bag and has been fitted with roof bars to carry her bikes.
Collecting the keys to her new car, with dad John, and grandparents Derek and Anne, a delighted Beth said: “I’m absolutely over the moon with the car and still can’t quite believe it’s mine.
“Having this sort of support from the dealership and Nissan is so invaluable and will really help me as I train and look to achieve my goals.”
The reigning under 23 national champion added: “My old car was so unreliable and would often break down. But now I won’t have to worry about my car and just get on with training and competing, which is what it’s all about at the end of the day.
‘Reaching Rio is what I’m really focused on and this support will help me get there.”
Chris Avery, General Manager at Nissan Birmingham Central, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be able to support Beth on the road to Rio and I’m sure she will absolutely love her new car.
“It’s a great source of pride for everyone at the dealership knowing that we are backing such a promising young athlete and are playing some part in helping her fulfil her sporting dreams in Rio.”
The partnership between the dealership and Beth was formed through Nissan’s role as the Official Automotive Partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB on the road to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. As part of this, Nissan has launched the #UniteAndExcite campaign which will provide fans with exclusive behind-the-scenes access to athletes’ stories and news of how Nissan’s innovative technology could improve performance.
