ANDREW Forrest, a service advisor with over 40 years employment with Midlothian based Nissan dealership Alex F Noble & Son, along with a 10-man team of friends and family, has recently taken part in a charity Kiltwalk, raising over £3,000 for Prostate Scotland.
Andrew, who lives in Musselburgh, said: “One of Alex F Noble & Son’s customers, Andrew Edgar, underwent a prostate operation earlier this year and has recently been given the all-clear. I was really inspired by his story and as my father also had the disease, I decided to raise a team for the Kiltwalk to try and raise both some money and awareness for the great work being done by the Prostate Scotland charity”.
The event, which finished with a party at the home of Scottish Rugby, BT Murrayfield, was the last of this year’s four Royal Bank of Scotland Kiltwalks and Edinburgh’s biggest ever.
The walkers took on one of three routes, with 1,900 of them setting off from Holyrood Park to tackle the marathon-distance Mighty Stride and a further 1,700 enjoying the five-mile Wee Wander. Andrew’s team, along with 1,400 other walkers, tackled the Big Stroll which involved a 15.5 mile trek in and around Scotland’s capital.
At the beginning of the walk, the team met up with tennis coach, Judy Murray, who was also participating in the Kiltwalk for her own charity, The Judy Murray Foundation and she was very happy to pose for a photograph with the guys.
Andrew said: “We had a really enjoyable day at the Kiltwalk and delighted to have raised over £3000 for Prostate Scotland. The issues surrounding prostate health are still not well enough known, so we felt we should do our bit to help promote the excellent work they do”.
