STAFF at a Nissan dealer in Staffordshire have raised more than £11,000 for Cancer Research UK following their third family fun run for charity.
Every year Polesworth Garage in Grendon Road, Polesworth, Tamworth, team up with The Office Pub in Warton and put on a three-mile race from the dealership to the pub.
Hundreds of people – including members of the showroom staff – put on their running shoes for the race, which has now raised more than £27,000 for the charity since its inception.
Staff organised several other fundraising events as well as the run, including a bingo night at the pub on Sunday which raised £178.50.
And with the dealership donating a cheque for £2,000, it meant this year’s event surpassed the £10,000 mark with a final total of £11,196.61.
Andrew Marven, Financial Director at Polesworth Garage, helps organise the event, and said: “The fun run gets bigger and better every year and I am absolutely delighted with this year’s final amount. We wanted to reach the £10,000 mark so to go beyond that is fantastic.
“Everyone knows a friend or family member who has been diagnosed with Cancer and this is something that is very close to my heart.”
He added: “We are so grateful to everyone for their support in making the fun run such a popular and memorable event every year, and helping to raise money for such a worthy cause.”
