In an outstanding result to close the fiscal year, Juke not only set sales records for 2011, last quarter and the month of March, but it also outsold every other compact crossover model on sale, and is now clearly positioned as a mainstream offering to customers.
In fact, Juke outsold many of the well known volume players including the Renault Clio, Toyota Yaris, Citroen C3, Mazda 2 and Fiat Punto to name just a few, while also setting out its stall ahead of the premium positioned Audi A1, Citroen DS3 and Mini Countryman, models that were all launched in the same period as Juke.
A total of 24,358 Jukes were sold in the UK in 2011, while March 2012 was the best-ever month with 5,350 units sold – 20 per cent more than the previous record month.
Designed to meet customer needs
In developing Juke, Nissan has created a new market segment: the compact crossover. And like the hugely popular Qashqai before it, the Juke has shown that Nissan’s ability to combine innovation and excitement in its models has captured the car buying public’s imagination by bringing something new and exciting to market.
It’s a fantastic reflection on the public’s acceptance of Juke’s pioneering and innovative design (best of SUV and Sport cues), and a deserved result to underpin Nissan’s strategic foresight in identifying emerging customer demand and having the confidence to make dynamic concept designs into production reality.
Above all, Juke has been accepted into the mainstream market, and fully cemented itself as one of the best selling cars in the UK, thanks in no small part to the winning combination of advanced technology, high levels of standard specification, incredible value for money and that game changing evocative design.
Built to thrill…
The year saw many success stories in addition to the outstanding sales performance. Juke proved itself to be a package that builds trust, with respected industry influencers CAP giving Juke the number one RV position ahead of competitors such as the Mini Cooper, Citroen DS3, Audi A1, Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo.
Keeping Juke fresh and avoiding any complacency was also important, an ideal that saw Nissan launch two special versions focused on giving the customer the ultimate Juke ownership experience; KURO and SHIRO.
Nissan then built, raced and wowed the world with Juke-R, before teasing an exciting future with Juke NISMO. A future that’s seen an impressive start to the new fiscal year already with pricing experts Parkers presenting Juke first prize in their annual running costs awards, taking the gong for best crossover under £15k. And proving that customers are just as impressed as the industry experts, Auto Express readers voted Juke number one Supermini, and the overall winner for the technology category in the Driver Power survey.
Matthew Baker, Juke Product Manager, said: ‘Nissan dealers can all be proud of this outstanding performance as we look forward to another exciting year of Juke.
‘Nissan Juke is definitely built to thrill, and from Friday, April 6 we’ve been back on TV with an all-new campaign bringing this to life in the most dynamic and thrilling way imaginable.’
