Let me take this opportunity, for those that don’t know me, to introduce myself – I’m Jim Wright, the new managing director of NMGB and a new face to this page too!
I have worked at Nissan for 18 years now, but this move will see me return to the UK and NMGB after 11 years of living and working abroad. It’s going to be quite a cultural shock, that’s for sure!
Although I don’t officially occupy the hot seat until August 1, I have been spending some time in the past few days with the team trying to get up to speed quickly with the business and the UK market in general.
In summary it seems that it can best be described as we’re in a good position in a difficult market. The Nissan product line up is supporting a fantastic retail share of more than five per cent YTD and the order take looks good for September. So, so far so good!
In the coming months I will be spending time getting to know the team and network in detail and I am looking forward to getting out into the field to meet some of you in person.
In the meantime I am also trying to get used to some basic stuff like driving on the left again, speed cameras everywhere and the traditional British lunch of sandwiches and crisps at a desk!
