Dozens of journalists from all over Europe descended on Nissan Sunderland Plant earlier this week to hear the exciting news that the All New, third-generation LEAF was entering production.
The announcement made headlines all around the world and was of course covered here on Nissan Insider.
As the reporters and camera crews arrived at the factory, they were greeted by the sight of a colourful Christmas tree being powered by an example of All New LEAF.
The car was able to light up the branches thanks to Nissan’s ingenious vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology – or in this case, V2T – vehicle to tree!
The clever system means owners can power a variety of small to medium-sized devices when camping or enjoying outdoor adventures using the car’s battery power.
A Nissan spokesperson said: ‘‘The Christmas tree at Nissan Sunderland Plant looks wonderful. The fact that it’s powered by an All New Nissan LEAF equipped with our V2L technology serves as a small but important reminder of what electric vehicles can achieve beyond the road.
‘‘They’re capable of sharing clean energy smartly – and can brighten the darkest winter day.’’
