FORMER Royal Marine Adam Pagett was among four lucky people who headed to the Himalayas after winning a competition run by Nissan.
The 30-year-old Brit entered Nissan’s #XTrailAdventure contest, launched in September, to discover the most adventurous people in Europe.
As reported by Insider, it followed a Nissan-commissioned YouGov survey of more than 6,000 adults across the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain, which celebrated the launch of the Nissan X-Trail and led to the light-hearted perfect formula for adventure being “discovered” by psychologist and world-class mountain climber Matt Walker:
Adventure = F (P + Ue + Gc + Pm) – O
where F equals fun, P stands for passion, Ue means unique experience, Gc is Great companionship, Pm equates to Present in the moment, and O is the ordinary. Among those who responded to the survey, it concluded that adventure leads to a happier life for 73 per cent and a healthier one for 68 per cent.
The other winners were from France, Spain and Germany, and Walker accompanied the foursome on their epic adventure. Their journey began in Kathmandu before travelling in the Nissan X-Trail into the Himalayas where they were immersed in the culture and landscape of Nepal. The winners experienced a multitude of adventure activities from canyon swinging and trekking to waterfall swimming and downhill mountain biking, guided by local independent adventure travel leaders.
The quartet’s experiences were filmed and will be screened at the Adventure Film Festival in London on 8th January, followed by a Q&A session with Adam.
