TONY Lewis has taken up his new role as Managing Director of West Way Group with the aim of building on its position as the UK’s largest Nissan retailer.
Moving directly from a role as Sales Director at Nissan Motor (GB), Lewis has replaced long-serving MD Niall MacLaren, who has retired after 14 years at the helm.
He brings with him a wealth of experience, having worked for both car manufacturers and leading automotive retail groups. His past roles include UK Corporate Sales Director for Nissan Motor (GB), Infiniti Regional Director of Northern Europe and Brand Director at Jardine Motors Group.
In his most recent role with Nissan, Lewis oversaw back-to-back record-breaking years for retail sales and helped steer the brand to an all-time high UK market share.
Now he aims to duplicate that success at West Way, which operates 14 Nissan franchises in Aldershot, Altrincham, Basingstoke, Birmingham, Coventry, Hanwell, Manchester, Mill Hill, Oldham, Rochdale, Southampton, Stockport, Stourbridge and Wolverhampton.
Lewis said: “This is an exciting time for the Nissan brand and for West Way Group.
“The size and location of our dealerships means we are ideally placed to grow our business. We already exceeding Nissan’s national growth and there’s no reason this cannot continue moving forward.
“I’m very much looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”
Lewis also paid tribute to his predecessor, Niall MacLaren, who led West Way for more than a decade and also served on the board of Nissan Motor (GB) and had a spell as chair of the carmaker’s national dealer association.
He said: “Niall played a massive part in West Way Group’s many successes over the past 14 years. He will be missed by the whole team and we all wish him well for a long and happy retirement.”
