NISSAN has confirmed that the list price of the 100 per cent LEAF will fall ‘significantly’ in the coming years.
As reported by What Car?, Nissan will reduce the £25,590 list price of the electric hatchback due to European production in 2013.
Sunderland will start to make the LEAF’s batteries at Sunderland in 2012 and European production of the car itself will begin in 2013 – all aiding the LEAF’s price tag to be reduced.
Nissan’s corporate vice-president of global communications, Simon Sproule, said: ‘Building the cars and batteries in Sunderland will bring prices down significantly because of the inherent savings – certainly below the original launch price.’
