THE ALL-ELECTRIC West London-based Dendrow International has taken three of the British-built models for use by its team of field-based negotiators.
The high-tech models, which wear Dendrow’s colourful and eye-catching corporate livery, are having a double impact on the business – saving the company thousands and attracting hoardes of new customers.
The firm estimates its three LEAFs will save it up to £23,000 per year, with more than £3,000 shaved off its annual fuel bills (the LEAF costs from just two pence per mile to run), a yearly saving of nearly £9,000 on the London Congestion Charge (the LEAF is exempt) and a reduction of more than £11,000 on parking fees (registered cars can park for free in designated charging bays).
But the real-world total cost of ownership savings delivered by the vehicles is being outweighed by their power as 24-hour mobile advertisements for the business and its environmentally-focused ethos.
Matthew Wilkinson, Business Development Director at Dendrow International, said: “Adding the Nissan LEAFs to our fleet has been a win-win situation for us. Firstly, there’s the obvious cash savings they generate, but we’ve also noticed a significant spike in enquiries since they entered service.
“I think potential customers see them driving by or pass them while they’re charging and are intrigued and remember them more than they would some other vehicle.”
He added: “The LEAFs reflect really positively on our company, underlining our sustainability policy and our commitment to the environment
“Our image is very important to us as a business and we always look inwardly and ask ‘what do our customers think?’ Now they see that we’re being responsible and thinking about the environment through our sustainable use of vehicles and that’s a great talking point and door opener for us.”
