A STAFFORDSHIRE dealership has raised thousands of pounds for charity after staging its second annual fun run.
Polesworth Garage, on Grendon Road, Polesworth, has just presented a cheque for £8,778.35 to Cancer Research UK following its successful July fundraiser.
Up to 300 people, including members of the showroom staff, took part in the summer fun run, which started at the Nissan dealership and finished three miles away at The Office Pub in Warton.
Further events took place on the day, including a raffle with more than 70 prizes, which helped boost the fundraising total, while Polesworth Garage also added a significant contribution to the final amount.
Andrew Marven, Finance Director at Polesworth Garage, who organised the event alongside Accounts Manager Amanda Busby, said he was “astounded” at how much was collected, and delighted to have surpassed last year’s figure of £7,673.59.
He said: “It truly is a fantastic amount to have raised. Cancer Research is a cause close to my heart so to hand over almost £9,000 is a wonderful feeling.
“I’d like to thank the team at Polesworth Garage and The Office Pub at Warton in helping us organise the fun run, and to everyone who takes part every year. It’s become a truly unique event for the area and one that attracts such great support. We’re looking forward to hosting next year’s run.”
A date has already been set for the next fun run – it will take place on July 10, 2016, and donations are already being accepted.
Amanda added: “We’re over the moon with how much money we raised and hope to collect even more next year.”
