GRADUATES of the Nissan Academy were treated to a day of Olympic-themed fun to celebrate their hard work over the past year.
Those awarded academy accreditation were invited to Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire where they discovered more about Nissan’s relationship with Team GB and the British Paralympics Association.
They also had the chance to meet British Paralympians and try some Paralympic sports. The day of activities was followed by dinner and entertainment with a talk from Darren Campbell MBE.
Among those there was Jonathan Mayne, 36, who works at Wessex Garages in Cardiff.
Jonathan said: “I had a fantastic time. I had the opportunity to try out first hand some of the sports that will feature in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games including Sitting Volleyball, Goalball, Boccia and Wheelchair Basketball.
“Sitting Volleyball was great fun but extremely hard work as you are in the seated position at all times.
“The day was an amazing experience it really opened my eyes to just how skilful these sports actually are. I think, like most people, I took an interest during London 2012 but to play them gave me a fresh perspective.”
The Nissan Academy Accreditation Programme was launched to provide comprehensive annual development and training for Sales Consultants, Service Advisors, Master Technicians and Technicians. This, in turn, gives customers the best possible experience when they visit dealerships across the network.
