A BURY dealership is lending its support to a charity in memory of a teenager known as “Super Josh”.
RRG Nissan Bury in Bolton Street has supplied a top-of-the-range Nissan Qashqai to the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity.
Josh, from Bury, who was voted Mancunian of the Year 2014 by the Manchester Evening News, died last year aged 14 after long-standing medical problems.
He had been diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was just three-and-a-half and was left with complex neurological disabilities following an operation to remove it.
Widely known as “Super Josh”, his bravery and bright outlook on life led his family to set up the charity to help other children with brain tumours.
Mike Prince, Dealer Principal at RRG Bury, said: “Everyone in the area knows the story of “Super Josh” and what a fantastic young man he was.
“We wanted to do our bit to help out so have supplied the charity with a Nissan Qashqai. It’s the perfect car for them to get to and from fundraising events in comfort and style.
“Our staff are also determined to help raise money for the cause throughout the year.”
Josh’s family launched the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity in August 2013, partly to celebrate his 13th birthday but also to help children in a similar position.
Josh’s mum Dawn Fidler visited the RRG Nissan Bury showroom to take delivery of the Nissan Qashqai, which is emblazoned with the charity’s name and logo.
She said: “Our charity relies on the support of local businesses like RRG Nissan Bury to help make a difference to the lives of children like my Josh.
“The Qashqai will help us get around events and spread the charity’s name wherever we go.”
