The car belongs to electric vehicle fan Leslie Altass of Hull, East Yorkshire, and attracts no shortage of admiring glances as he drives it around his neighbourhood.
It was given its elaborate paint job by a company called Overhauled Custom Paint, run by Leslie’s son Keith, and Keith’s business partner Gary Atkinson.
Mr Altass snr. bought the car from Trenton Nissan, Anlaby, Hull. He told us he was very impressed by the all-electric vehicle and wanted to spread the word about the benefits of electric motoring – hence the attention-grabbing paint effects.
‘It’s the first electric car I have owned and it’s fantastic actually. I’ve never liked noisy cars. This one is nice, quiet, smooth and easy to drive. And I don’t like buying petrol!’
Mr Altass said he had so far done about 1,500 miles in the car and that he was happy to pay his son’s company for the two weeks’ work they carried out on it.
‘They’ve done a nice job on it,’ he said – and we’re sure you’ll agree!
More than 42,000 Nissan LEAFS are now on the road worldwide and UK production of the car starts early next year at Nissan’s Sunderland plant.
