A CUMBRIA car dealership has helped local schoolchildren learn all about the pure-electric Nissan LEAF after the pioneering car featured as part of their studies.
Family-run J Edgar & Son Nissan in Rowrah first asked pupils to draw a picture that best summed up the world’s best-selling electric car, which costs just 2p a mile to run and offers zero-emissions mobility.
The winning image featured green hills and trees, resembling the LEAF’s environmental benefits.
A group of pupils from Ennerdale & Kinniside CE Primary School in Ennerdale Bridge, were then invited into the dealership and were surprised to see the artwork reproduced on the side of a real Nissan LEAF.
The youngsters, who had been studying different modes of transport, were all given goodie bags to take away and treated to a lift back to school in a LEAF.
Jason Edgar, General Manager at J Edgar & Son, whose daughter attends the school, said: “We want to say a big thank you to the children of Ennerdale & Kinniside CE Primary School for designing the artwork for our 100% electric Nissan LEAF.
“All the children have been talking about it. A couple of them sent us letters back saying how much they enjoyed the visit to our dealership and learning about the LEAF.
“The LEAF is a pioneering car, so it was a great experience for the children to learn all about the technology and the environmental benefits of having one.”
