EUROPEAN sales of Nissans grew 25 per cent year on year in August compared to the same month last year.
Nissan sold 40,569 units in the month and continued its run of out-selling 2010 in every month to date.
Most models posted year-on-year sales increases contributing to a 3.6 per cent European market share.
Locally-produced models continue to drive this demand, including the Qashqai crossover and Note mini-MPV – both manufactured in Sunderland – and the Barcelona-built Navara pickup and NV200 small van.
Guillaume Cartier, Nissan’s vice president for sales operations, Europe said: ‘August is traditionally a month when sales slow down but Nissan’s strong product line-up continues to bring customers into the showrooms and our order banks continue to grow.
‘The success of the Nissan crossover line up with Murano, Qashqai and Juke is driving our performance across the region and we are also looking forward to the launch of the Micra DIG-S later this month.’
