Motorway, the online used car marketplace, has revealed that the Nissan LEAF was its top-selling used electric vehicle over the past 12 months.
Motorway announced LEAF’s success after analysing all the cars sold on its website during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, between March 2020 and February 2021.
LEAF came top of the used EV charts thanks to its affordability and reliability.
Tom Leathes, CEO of Motorway, said: “The Nissan LEAF is certainly a dealer favourite. With electric demand booming, our dealers simply love acquiring them for retail on their forecourts.
‘‘Feedback from our buyers has always been that the LEAF is a subtle, yet powerful, electric car that bridges the gap nicely for many looking to break out of fossil fuel ownership.
Great models
‘‘The LEAF is affordable and reliable too, and holds its value well in the used car market. No wonder it’s our biggest-selling used electric vehicle over the last 12 months!’’
Leathes added: ‘‘It’s great to see how many used electric cars are being bought and sold right now – the demand for EVs is growing fast and people are realising they can pick up some great models second-hand.”
LEAF was recently named ‘Used Electric Car of the Year’ at the 2021 DrivingElectric Awards, again demonstrating its standing in the second-hand market.
A Nissan spokesman said: ‘‘We are delighted to see that LEAF is so popular with users of the used car platform Motorway. As a new car, it is better value than ever thanks to recently-announced price reductions; and as a used vehicle it is deservedly highly sought after by dealers and the car-buying public.
‘‘As the first and still the best mass-market EV, we’re delighted to see LEAF continuing to go from strength to strength.’’
