A BUCKINGHAMSHIRE car dealership made dreams come true for dozens of local youngsters by arranging for their sporting hero Olympian gymnast Max Whitlock to give them a thrilling demonstration.
The 21-year-old superstar from Hemel Hempstead – a bronze medal winner at London 2012 – visited Lynx Gymnastics Centre on Rabans Close to give an up-close-and-personal demonstration on the pommel horse, chat to members and sign autographs.
The exciting visit was arranged by Aylesbury Nissan on Bicester Road – the new driving force behind Max’s campaign to reach the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The dealership has provided the athlete with a stunning Nissan Juke as his build-up to his second Olympiad intensifies. The feature-packed model will allow him to travel in comfort and arrive at training sessions and competitions in peak condition.
Collecting the keys to his new car last week, a delighted Max said: “It was really exciting to meet the youngsters at Lynx and to be able to chat to them and show them my medals.
“Hopefully my visit shows the children what they can achieve and encourages them to stick with the sport and train hard. Maybe one day they’ll compete at the Olympic Games too.”
Max added: “This Nissan Juke and the support of Aylesbury Nissan means so much to me and will make such a difference.
“Having a car that’s reliable and so comfortable means I have one less thing to think about and can concentrate even more on my gymnastics.”
Paul Cockton, Sales Director at Aylesbury Nissan, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be able to support Max on the road to Rio and I’m sure he’ll love his new car.
“It’s a great source of pride for everyone at the dealership knowing that we are backing such a successful and well-known athlete and are playing some part in helping him towards more success in Rio.”
Paul added: “It was also fantastic that Max took time out from his busy training schedule to visit the youngsters at Lynx. I know he made a lot of young people very happy.”
The partnership between the dealership and Max was formed through Nissan’s role as the Official Automotive Partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB on the road to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. As part of this, Nissan has launched the #UniteAndExcite campaign which will provide fans with exclusive behind-the-scenes access to athletes’ stories and news of how Nissan’s innovative technology could improve performance.
