OVO Energy, the UK’s largest independent energy supplier, has taken delivery of 26 all-electric Nissan e-NV200 vans.
The company worked in partnership with Zenith, the UK’s leading independent leasing, fleet management and vehicle outsourcing business, to add the vehicles to its parc.
Equipped with the same 40kWh battery as the top-selling Nissan LEAF passenger car, the 100 per cent electric e-NV200 is an efficient and practical LCV with a maximum range of 187 miles in city conditions and multiple charging modes.
Ben Guest, Field Operations Director, OVO Energy, said: “We’re committed to expanding our field force team’s fleet with new electric vehicles, building on our commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions from our own operations by 2030.
‘‘Zenith is a valuable partner in helping us with our goals and enabling us to transition to a fully electric fleet.”
The Nissan e-NV200s will be driven by smart meter installation engineers.
Different requirements
OVO Energy has signed up to the EV100 global initiative and aims to run an all-electric fleet by 2030. The company has already set itself progressive goals including achieving net zero carbon emissions for its own operations and supply chain as a direct response to climate change.
Mark Grundy, customer relationship manager at Zenith, said: “The team at Zenith used its industry expertise to quickly order, equip and deploy these fully electric vehicles within a short period of time.
‘‘We continue to work closely with OVO Energy to understand the different driver requirements in their fleet and recommend a bespoke transition strategy that meets their operational needs and fleet ambitions.”
A Nissan spokesman said: ‘‘Naturally we are delighted that OVO Energy has chosen to add these Nissan e-NV200 vans to its fleet. We’re sure they will be thrilled with their choice.
‘‘The e-NV200 is the ideal electric commercial vehicle for any company. And when businesses go 100 per cent electric, low operating costs, high efficiency and surprising performance come as standard.’’
