A NISSAN dealership has become principal sponsor of Pontefract’s annual Cyclothon.
Harratts Nissan, on Front Street, Pontefract, has strengthened its existing ties with Prince of Wales Hospice by sponsoring its popular bike ride, which takes place on May 14th.
Hundreds of riders take part every year, choosing one of four routes — 30, 50 and 80 miles, and a new 100-mile route.
Over the course of its 23-year history, the event has raised almost £300,000 for the hospice, which provides care to people from Normanton, Pontefract, Featherstone, Knottingley and Castleford.
As well as helping to make the event possible, Harratts will be providing a Nissan Navara as the “lead car” — riding ahead of the cyclists to guide out the route and display a timing clock.
Additionally, Harratts have pledged to donate £100 to the hospice for every new car purchased at the dealership in the lead up to the event.
Shaun Harratt, Managing Director, said; “The team throughout all our Harratts dealerships are very excited about the Cyclothon sponsorship with a few of them already in training to take part.
“We are delighted to become an official partner of the hospice and are looking forward to raising additional money over the coming months as well.”
The event starts at 9am on May 14th, starting at Pontefract Park. Entry is £20 and you can sign up at the reception of the Prince of Wales Hospice, on Halfpenny Lane, Pontefract, or online at www.pwh.org.uk/events/cyclothon
