SALES, exports and production for Nissan were all up worldwide last month, the company has reported in latest figures.
Global sales in February increased by 11.8 per cent year-on-year to 424,023 units, and the European market registered an all-time record for the month, with a year-on-year rise of 15.7 per cent to 58,168 units, mainly thanks to increased demand for the Nissan Note.
All-time sales records were also marked by the USA – up by 15.8 per cent year-on-year rise to 115,360 units – with the new Rogue, Altima and Frontier proving particularly popular, as well as for Mexico, which saw a 0.5 per cent year-on-year rise to 20,623 units. Nissan has now been the sales leader in Mexico for 57 consecutive months.
As far as the domestic market was concerned, Nissan sold 82,399 units including mini-vehicles in Japan – up by 18.4 per cent year-on-year. Mini-vehicle sales in February were an all-time record for a single month, rising by a whopping 83.5 per cent year-on-year to 28,730 units, mainly through strong sales of the Nissan DAYZ series.
Nissan’s global production in February increased by 15 per cent year-on-year to 422,583 units.
Production in Japan increased by 13.7 per cent year-on-year to 87,126 units, mainly through increased demand for the new Skyline, Infiniti Q50 and the new X-Trail.
Meanwhile, production outside of Japan increased by 15.4 per cent year-on-year in February to 335,457 units, with all-time records for the USA (up by 25.3 per cent to 80,953 units), Mexico (rising by 15.1 per cent to 64,876 units) and the UK (eight per cent up year-on-year to 48,160 units).
In Spain, production rose by 14.7 per cent year-on-year to 14,502 units, while in China it was up by an amazing 60.7 per cent year-on-year to 71,890 units.
Nissan reported exports in February rising by 14.7 per cent year-on-year to 38,815 units, with North America taking 19,855 units – an increase of 9.4 per cent year-on-year.
