JANN Mardenborough is facing a huge challenge this weekend as he is competing in the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 in the Spa 24 Hours and also racing his Formula 3 car in three rounds of the British F3 International Series.
Switching between two very different cars is always a challenge with different braking points, different levels of power and altogether different handling characteristics but in true Mardenborough style Jann took it all in his stride.
The young Nismo Athlete took third place in F3 qualifying this afternoon, made a quick change into his GT race suit and jumped into the No.35 YouTube-liveried Nissan GT-R for the start of the night qualifying session.
Mandatory night laps
As more than 60 GT3 cars took to the Spa track all eyes at Nissan were on Mardenborough’s sector times, which duly showed up purple, signalling that he was the fastest man on the track.
Every driver entered into the Spa 24 Hours had to complete mandatory night laps, meaning that everyone took to the track during the night session.
Jann went out there and took first place in the Pro-Am times and brilliantly third place in the overall rankings.
The grid positions for the Spa 24 Hours have yet to be set as the top 20 cars from today’s two combined qualifying sessions will now take part in tomorrow night’s Super Pole session to compete for the best grid positions.
